The ToughArtivists network selects artists from within our web who have serious stories to tell and demonstrate brave dedication towards their practice. Innovation always demands courage. You have to be tough as new ideas start small, spread from one mind to another and develop their own armies to bring them into existence.
The ToughArtivists network helps spread such ideas, acting as a platform that bounces towards a broader audience. We support diversity by nature, and belive that breakthroughs begin with creative and often unrecognized manners of expression.
The ToughArtivists Network starts on September 22nd on

An Artfair in Munich, Stroke it is called. The fourth edition is coming up while exactly one year ago they have been already very successful in the Bavarian town. Stroke happened also in Berlin and in 2010 more than 25.000 visitors got along to see the work of 600 artists from around the globe. We talk about an event of those brothers Marco and Raiko Schwalbe who founded Stroke artfair to bring in a platform for galleries, artists and creative to present themselves in a more serious way than having an appearance part xyz on the street. It has a focus, it gives a reason to meet and yet it is all about street art, urban art and their facettes. New and fresh Stroke gathers a big load of creativity being an artfair with authentic and contemporary direction. The visitors are getting a very good overview of what is going on in this new movement bogarting more and more space in every town – on walls, shirts, billboards, commercials, retailers, galleries, legal or illegal became secondary. Nobody can ignore the power of creation within the modern life. It is not surprising that the lack of information who does what and where, how and why needed a platform. The aim is to present the work of talented people to a wider audience. As many people as possible should see creative work whether they are young guns or established superstars. The approach is to lift up the scene, new or old-school, established or mummend, professional or engaged, all have that streety appeal. Stroke is the spreadhead as an urban artfair and many people are willing to show their quirk work and direct in this show, that’s why four event days are on schedule giving the chance to discover the most. In May in Munich, end of September again in Berlin. We keep you informed.

ESCAPE 2010
-ESCAPE THE GOLDEN CAGE
International Exhibition of Urban Art
01.10.-24.10.2010 | Vienna
| The international exhibition of urban art ESCAPE 2010
– Escape the Golden
Cage presents artists who have never before been seen in such an
extensive exhibition and will first open its doors in October 2010.
Enthralling national and international artists were invited to the
exhibition in order to display and communicate the current positions of
urban art. Above all, the intrinsic references to space and urban
settings as well as comic, pop and street art are the main focus of the
show.
Today, street art and graffiti no longer exclusively show up in
the fabric of the public, urban space, but also appear in the
institutionalised interior space of museums and galleries. The
spontaneity and guerrilla attitude of the (often illegal) work in
outside spaces transfers to the works for the white cube, thereby
lending to an internal tension and urgency, that “established art”
sometimes lacks. Street artists and graffiti sprayers thus break out of
the art framework and bring their aesthetic and expressiveness to a new
and exciting level by means of modified media which also inspires
Artists whose origin is not found in this subculture.
ESCAPE 2010 exhibits the young art genre of urban art, which
encompasses the positions of street artists, graffiti sprayers and
artists who are inspired by these works.
Artists:
Anton Unai, Asgar/Gabriel, Christian
Eisenberger, Clemens Wolf, Faith47, Jaybo aka Monk, Marco Pho Grassi,
Markus Oberndorfer, Nomad, Paul Busk, Perfektworld, Scott Malcolm
Wigglesworth, Stefan Strumbel, Stephen Tompkins, Thomas Keramik

«The Satisfactory»
Utengasse 15
CH-4058 Basel
Die 18 Künstler: Aryz, Grito & Ripo (ESP), Blackyard (BE), Reto Ehrbar & Emmanuel Denier (ZH), Rodja Galli (BE), Donovan Gregory (ZH), Marco Klefisch (ITA), Mäkka (BS), Sipho Mabona (LU), Moving Colorz (BS), Onur (SO), The Schwarzmaler (BE), SMASH137 (BS), Amadeus Waltenspühl (LU), WES21 (BE) und Stefan Winterle (GER) werden in «The Satisfactory», einer ehemaligen Maschinenfabrik mit Industriecharme, ihre Werke ausstellen. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Präsentationspartner Swatch wird die Artyou in Kombination mit Swatch MTV Playground – Livekunst- Veranstaltungen, Musik/Clubprogramm zu einer viertägigen urbanen Show verschmelzen.
